I have a lot of dates this week.
In my pantry MUAHAHAHA. As I sat in my favorite coffee shop, these dates - locked up in a jar, just dying to be eaten, along with my beloved cacao powder that I’ve used a total of probably four spoonfuls of - came to mind.
I felt like Raven Simone when she had a vision of the future. Except this vision was unlike any Raven had ever experienced.
It was a rich, chocolate-y, fudge spread made from – you guessed it – dates and cacao powder (and a little agave).
I polished the sandwich off rather quickly and forgot to take a picture to show you, but since this stuff is good on everything…
Makes about ¾ cup
½ cup pitted dates, plus a few more*
2 tbsp. cacao powder
1 tbsp. agave nectar
1. Put the dates in a blender or food processor and process until smooth (you can add a little water if you need to). Pour in the agave and cacao powder and blend again.
2. Refrigerate or serve immediately.
*my dates were soft already, but if you need to, you can soak them in water for at least 30 mins before blending to make the blending easier.
