Alright, being home ain’t so bad. I get to sleep in (in my own bed), cook and eat grrrrrreat food, and relax.

Yesterday I really didn’t do anything. Like, nothing physically demanding, that is. I slept in until 9 ish, made some Japanese sweet potatoes for breakfast, walked my dog, sorted out $67 in coins (tips, tips, and more tips), then went to training/orientation for my new job at Bruxie – maker of some of the most insanely delicious waffles and waffle sandwiches you’ll ever taste.

So, yeah, no workout. And we had to taste more of the menu items at job training, which meant more nutella-and-banana-waffles, more Wisconsin custard, more chocolate-filled Liege waffles, and so on. Now, I’m not necessarily complaining, because who can complain about nutella and banana? I’m just saying, on a day when the most heart-pumping action I got was walking up the 5 stairs into the bank, nutella and banana and chocolate-filled Liege waffles and thick, creamy custard aren’t exactly the most nutritious dinner items.

But it’s okay! Because the day didn’t end there. I got home and played Just Dance 3 on the Wii for about an hour. And I sweat. And I shook my booty. And I exercised. Boom.

This morning, I slept in yet again, and then went for a run around 9 o’clock.

Bad, bad, bad idea. It’s summer, it’s a busy time for the streets of Chino Hills, and it’s stupidly hot outside. I don’t even want to know how close I was to dehydrating myself.

So I made this heavenly hydrator….

It’s sweet, but not over-poweringly so. Its filling, but not stuffing.

It’s ice cold. It’s banana-y. it’s creamy, mango-y, milkshake-y magic.

Makes 1 shake

1 frozen banana
¾-1 cup frozen mango chunks
1 scoop brown rice protein powder
1 tbsp. ground flax/chia seed mix
½ cup water
½ cup unsweetened almond milk

1.     Toss it all into a blender, blend, and taste the magic!
